The idea behind this seasonal blend from Peru and Honduras is to showcase coffees with a sweet, fruit-driven taste profile, an interesting level complexity and pleasant acidity.
Ubiriki Coop - Peru: The Cooperativa Agaria Cafetalera Sostenible Valle Ubiriki was founded by 73 producers in the towns of Perene and Pichanki in the Upper Amazon region of Junin, Peru. In these highland regions, farmers can be very isolated with few basic services. Many households rely on subsistence farming. Coffee makes up 70% of the household income.
Cooperative Cafetalera Capucas Limitada (Cocafcal - Honduras) or Capucas as they are better known, is situated on and around the Celaque mountain, which is the highest peak in Honduras. Celaque means "box of water" in the local Lenca language, and the mountain is the source for many rivers and streams. Capucas was founded in 1999 by Jose Omar Rodriguez and takes its name from the local town of Las Capucas. In 2004 Omar was chosen to become the general manager, a role he continues today.
